November 13, 2024We are so happy to finally introduce you to our new boat, AD ASTRA, a 9.8 motorboat fully equipped for research. Its name means ‘ towards the stars “ because in Madagascar, whale sharks translate as ” many stars ’!
This would not have been possible without the support of Matechmad and Suzuki Marine by Matechmad, who provided us with a Suzuki DF200 A engine, Tropical Boat who built the hull locally in Madagascar and offered us their support, and our partner Sharkproject International who supported us in this adventure! It’s also thanks to our donors that we’ve been able to reach this milestone.
It’s a real dream come true, allowing us to be independent, to train our team and our students, to welcome partners and visitors, to facilitate sea trips for ocean guardians, and to continue collecting important data on whale sharks for their conservation.
We are so grateful for your support!
